Financial and arms aid to terrorists must stop, Rouhani says
TEHRAN – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that terrorism has never been a good instrument for countries to achieve their plots, reiterating Tehran’s position that certain countries must stop their “financial and arms support” for terrorist groups.
During a meeting with Togo’s Foreign Minister Robert Dussey in Tehran, Rouhani also said aggression against other countries and interference in their internal affairs threaten peace and security.
Rouhani added it is necessary to fight the ideology of extremism.
The president also called on international bodies to lead a “coordinated” and “serious” fight against terrorists.
Rouhani also said the international community is facing two serious challenges: one is the undermining of peace and security and the other is spread of violence and terrorism.
He also said Iran prioritizes expansion of relations between Tehran and Togo’s private sectors.
He called for increased cooperation in international organizations to help settle crises in the world.
For his part, Dussey called for expansion of cooperation in fight against terrorism.
He also said that the African countries seek to expand relations with the friendly countries especially Iran.
